How do I become a member of Crowfield?
Who can join our church?
Anyone who has been born again through faith in Christ and been baptized by immersion is welcome to join our congregation.
How do I join?
You can join Crowfield Baptist Church in any one of four ways:
1. By Profession of faith and baptism. This is the way a new Christian joins our church. By “profession of faith” we simply mean the public acknowledgement before our congregation that you have opened your heart to Christ. Persons desiring to join our church in this way should come forward during the Response Time in one of our worship gatherings and tell the Pastor why they are coming, and that they wish to join in this way. He will have an Altar Counselor meet with them privately to review their commitment and to fill out a membership card for them. Then, if everything is in order, they will be presented to our church at the end of the worship gathering and the congregation will receive them into membership.
2. By Transfer of Membership. Born again believers who have been baptized previously by immersion, and who are members of other churches, can join our church by coming forward during the Response Time in one of our worship gatherings and sharing their desire for membership transfer with the Pastor. There is usually no need to provide our church with the mailing address of the church from which you are transferring. Our office has indexes which provide most of the information we need.
3. By Statement. If you have been converted to Christ, baptized by immersion, and are a member of another church, but for some reason you know your membership record cannot be obtained, you can simply come forward during the Response Time in one of our worship gatherings, share with the Pastor your desire to join by statement, and we will receive you on your word without requiring documentation from your former church.
4. By Watchcare. This is a modified form of church membership available to persons who anticipate being in our area for only a short time and who desire to retain their full membership in another church. Joining by Watchcare enables a Christian to become a part of our congregation temporarily, but does not permit them to vote in church business meetings or hold elected ministry positions. If you would like to join us by watchcare, simply come forward during the Response Time during one of our worship gatherings, tell the Pastor of your desire to join by watchcare, and you can be received into membership.
Successful completion of the Newcomer's Class is a requirement for joining our church for persons ages 16 and over. The class purpose exists to prepare Christians for membership in Crowfield Baptist Church (1) by helping them make certain they have been converted to Jesus Christ, (2) by informing them of our church's basic beliefs, and (3) by presenting to them the biblical meaning and expectations of church membership. The class is a three-session course taught by our Pastor. You will not be pressured in any way to join our church if you would like to take the Newcomer's Class to learn more about CBC.
